NCSoft support for their policy on proxy servers, referring to the advice many of us saw that they "may" ban accounts for their use. The Gamepath bit is not relevant or confirmed. I don't know if anyone needs proxy services in Noir anyway. But its some new info anyway Razz

Here's the response, unedited.

Hello

Thank you for your question; this is a subject that’s been under much scrutiny and discussion on places like the beta boards. First off NCsoft does not expressly prohibit the use of proxy servers, or ban people for it.

However, there is a risk you run by using them, if you ask if I would recommend Game Path as a proxy service, and the answer would be No. With some of these services they charge a fee or offer to sell you a game-time-card to use their service. This money is then funded back into Real Money Transaction services thus leading to more and more bots, chat spam and everything else us as a company and you as players hate. That site (Gamepath) is known to be one of them.

Again to clarify we don't ban people simply for using a proxy service to lower their ping, but because of the trend for gold sellers to use these to try to evade us catching them, we may end up banning an "innocent" account for having IP Association with the gold sellers. It is a high risk situation to put yourself in due to the possible association with gold sellers, and likely not worth the grief it would cause to have your account banned by accident.

I hope that clears up the question for you,

Good to know. I actually think it was something similar that was giving me GameGuard problems in open beta at first. I'm using a program to hide/fake my IP, this is often done via proxys. When I disabled the program I didn't have any GG problems anymore (although I did disable a few other programs as well).
